The Downtown blog will reflect the approach we take on our radio show. We treat sports as entertainment, try to steer clear of being fans and cheerleaders, and always remember that heroes are best found closer to home. We also have a love of movies, television, books, theater, and music, and will often talk with guests from those worlds and will share some of those conversations on the blog.
WANT TO KNOW MORE?
Maybe you haven’t heard our show. We won’t hold it against you, though we do think you’re missing out on the most unique three hours of radio you’ll find. What other Maine radio program features regular appearances from people like documentary filmmaker Ken Burns, actor John O’Hurley of Seinfeld, rock legend Eddie Money, historian Doris Kearns Goodwin, and M*A*S*H* star Mike Farrell? We talk with the biggest names in Maine sports, Boston icons like Bob Ryan, Steve Buckley, and Dan Shaughnessy, Monday Night Football’s Sean McDonough, ESPN’s Dan Shulman and Phil Steele, as well as Mitch Albom, Lesley Visser, Bob Costas, Rick Reilly, Frank Deford, and Rick Telander, and along the way have visited with actors Henry Winkler, Jeff Daniels, and Sean Astin, music legends Micky Dolenz of The Monkees, Noel Paul Stookey, Mary Chapin Carpenter, and Jimmy Webb, to name just a few.
